Moody Fall 2020 Semester Plans
Dear Moody Community,
I am excited to announce that all of our campuses will be open for the Fall 2020 semester! Over the last several weeks, the Provost Cabinet in conjunction with Moody’s COVID-19 Task Force has been prayerfully putting together plans for this coming semester to provide an on-campus environment that reflects the unique Moody experience, all while ensuring health, safety, and well-being for our Moody community.
Our Fall 2020 semester will utilize a highly flexible approach to learning, which allows students to attend classes in person, online, or a combination of both depending on their needs and/or preference, and whether they reside on or off-campus.
Our highly flexible learning format will also allow us to deliver classroom instructions without interruption this fall, even if more stringent CDC guidelines and health agencies regulations are in place due to COVID-19.
Key Fall 2020 Semester Detail
- Chicago undergraduate and seminary classes will begin on August 17 as planned, and face-to-face classes will conclude the week of November 23. This timeframe allows us to offer a full academic term, and for students to return home before the height of cold and flu season.
- If state or local agencies mandate discontinuation of in-person classes due to COVID-19, we will not vacate our residence halls. Instead, we will complete the remainder of the semester using our high flex model where students can choose to remain on campus and in their residence halls, move off-campus, or move home.
- We are implementing best practices as guided by the CDC and other health agencies to help keep everyone safe and healthy. We will also implement testing, isolation and healthcare protocols for students who are symptomatic or become ill. This includes on-campus quarantine space, confidential monitoring/contact-tracing, and food service.
If You Have More Questions
No doubt, there are many questions. We are in the process of making the necessary changes and adjustments to our learning modalities. As information is finalized regarding the Fall semester for our Chicago, Michigan, and Spokane campuses, we will communicate them to you in a timely manner, as well as add it to our official FAQ on Moody.edu, which is available now.
Please continue to be in prayer as we implement these changes. Specifically be in prayer for our students, asking the Lord to be gracious to them in this season as they seek to be equipped and trained at Moody to live on mission for the Kingdom.
Humbly,
Dr. Dwight Perry
Provost
