Save the Date for Founder’s Week 2021
Moody Bible Institute’s 120th Founder’s Week conference will take place virtually Feb. 2 – 5, 2021, as a free, digital conference.
Out of an abundance of caution given the unexpected health climate and recommended meeting restrictions by city and state laws due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, for the first time in 100 years, Founder’s Week will be broadcast as an entirely digital event.
“We have seen the depths of despair but also the Lord’s provision and presence all throughout the course of 2020, as an Institution and a body of believers,” said Moody’s President, Dr. Mark Jobe. “Founder’s Week is a historic event, a special time of celebrating and honoring the Lord and asking Him to do a new thing in our lives. I believe that our God, the same One who provides streams in the desert and makes new paths in the wilderness of our pain, shows up in unexpected ways.” He added, “He is always making a way, and our 2021 conference will be a bold reminder that all we have experienced in this last year is preparing us for where He is calling us to serve in this next season.”
The decision to create an all-digital format for Founder’s Week, rather than an in-person conference, came out of prayerful consideration from Moody’s leadership of how to provide this vital conference amid the ongoing pandemic that continues to impact the world. While digital, Founder’s Week will still provide the same great teaching, preaching, and worship experiences from today’s foremost Christian leaders.
In addition, the conference will have shortened session times, but still run for four days. Each session will have only one speaker and one musical group or artist. All sessions will be broadcast via the livestream on the Founder’s Week web page with a pre- and post-show.
Additional session updates include:
- Morning Sessions
Morning sessions will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and take place during the Student Chapel Hour (10 – 10:50 a.m., CDT). Each session will feature one Moody faculty speaker, a current student emcee, and music selected by Moody’s Music department. Friday morning will feature the announcement of the Faculty Citation Award.
- Afternoon Sessions
Afternoon sessions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday. They will feature one student preacher for each day, and air from 2 – 2:50 p.m., CDT.
- Evening Sessions
Evening sessions will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They will take place from 7 – 8:30 p.m., CDT. Friday evening will include a concert by a special musical artist named closer to the event date. The evening emcee will be Moody alumnus and Director of Community Relations for Moody, Roy Patterson. Friday evening will also include the announcement of the Alumnus of the Year Award. There will be a series of ways to watch and listen to the evening sessions, including Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) translation livestreams and broadcast on TLN.
Founder’s Week continues to honor the Feb. 5 birthday of Dwight Lyman Moody, 19th century evangelist and founder of Moody Bible Institute.
In anticipation of the new, all-digital format, a variety of helpful tools and options will be made available for Founder’s Week 2021 viewers, including:
