On February 27, 2024, Moody Radio received one of the highest forms of recognition from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) – The Milestone Award. The award is presented annually by the NRB to an organization with longevity and exemplary service in Christian broadcasting for 50 years or more.

“To receive this honor from the NRB is deeply humbling,” said vice president of Moody Global Media, Wes Ward, who accepted the award during the closing gala dinner of NRB’s annual convention in Grapevine, Texas. Presenting the award was Jim Sanders, chairman of the NRB, as well as Debra Fraser, the second vice chair. “We want to not only recognize all those who have gone before us at Moody Radio, but the faithfulness of our Lord as well. The ability and opportunity to proclaim the gospel for a century truly is a testament to His goodness and the godly, forward-thinking leadership of those who pioneered Moody Radio.”

Receiving the award this year is especially significant for Moody Radio, as the broadcast ministry anticipates entering its 100th year of proclaiming the gospel this coming July. When The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago went live on air via WMBI (Moody Radio Chicago) in July of 1926, it was one of the nation’s first noncommercial Christian radio stations. The station pioneered new ways to share the gospel with wider audiences, eventually giving way to a network of stations across the country.

Moody Radio’s network has grown to include more than 69 full power stations and translators across the U.S., seven digital channels, a podcast network, and more than 1,500 outlets that carry its programming, reaching millions of listeners through terrestrial stations and digital platforms in both English and Spanish.

Building on Moody Radio’s Legacy

The Milestone Award comes on the heels of Moody Radio’s recent announcement regarding the formation of Moody Global Media. This new division at The Moody Bible Institute sits alongside education and Moody Publishers with the singular focus of reaching people with the Gospel through a multitude of growing digital channels.

As announced by Ward last week, this new audience-centric, content-driven, omni-channel, global multimedia ministry will continue to include the broadcast ministry of Moody Radio, as well as now a growing network of podcasts, social media channels, apps, websites, and much more. The 10-year vision of Moody Global Media is to reach 100 million people weekly Word of God in English, Spanish, and the world’s languages wherever people consume digital media.
