As Moody Radio embarks upon the start of its 100th year of proclaiming the gospel this coming July, a new division under which it will continue its broadcast legacy has been launched – Moody Global Media.

“Leadership has been prayerfully planning how we might strategically build upon this incredible legacy we have by God’s grace with Moody Radio to reach even more people with the gospel,” said vice president, Wes Ward, who heads up Moody Global Media. Today’s announcement comes as Moody Radio prepares to join thousands of Christian broadcasters from around the globe for the annual National Religious Broadcasters convention in Grapevine, Texas.

“In a time where gospel content is shared in many more ways than traditional broadcast radio to the current generations, we are expanding and innovating to reach growing digital audiences of all ages as well,” added Ward. “I can’t think of a better time and place to make this historic announcement than at the NRB’s convention.”

The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago was founded by 19th century evangelist Dwight L. Moody in 1886 to train men and women in the Bible. It would eventually expand and innovate to air its first gospel-centered broadcast in 1926 in Chicago on WMBI (Moody Radio Chicago). Respected as an industry leader and a trusted voice, Moody Radio has grown to include more than 69 full power stations and translators, seven digital channels, a podcast network, and more than 1,500 outlets that carry its programming, reaching millions of listeners.

Moody Bible Institute’s new multimedia division – Moody Global Media – has a 10-year vision to reach 100 million people weekly with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its Moody Radio network of stations and now a multitude of growing digital channels.

“Moody Global Media is truly an audience-centric, content-driven, omni-channel, global ministry,” stressed Ward. “We are focused on reaching existing and new audiences where they are and, based on their spiritual needs, provide the Good News of Jesus Christ and the Word of God through broadcast radio, and now podcasts, social media channels such as YouTube, apps, websites and more in English, Spanish, and the world’s languages wherever people consume media.”

Moody Global Media is now one of the three key ministries of The Moody Bible Institute, sitting alongside Moody Publishers and the education division which is entering its 140th academic year.

The newly formed multimedia ministry – Moody Global Media - is currently finalizing plans for new Gospel-centered content and digital channels for unreached audiences, such as a podcast network.

Plans for the podcast network will be announced soon.
